Australia Work Visa Fraud: A young woman from Arya Nagar, Yamunanagar has allegedly been cheated of more than ₹3 lakh by a man who promised to send her to Australia for job. The accused has been identified as Vikrant Sharma, a resident of Sector 17, Yamunanagar against whom the police have registered a police case of fraud. Immigration Frauds
According to the complaint by Aanchal, at the Gandhinagar Police Station, she had completed her studies and was looking for overseas employment opportunities. During this period, she came in contact with Vikrant Sharma, who introduced himself as an immigration consultant and claimed, He can arrange foreign jobs.
Aanchal stated that the accused assured her of a job opportunity in Australia and convinced her that he would handle all necessary formalities. Trusting his claims, she paid him a total amount of ₹3,02,000 in multiple installments between April 2025 and November 2025. Along with the money, she also handed over her essential personal documents like educational, passport as demanded by the accused.
However, even after several months, Aanchal was neither sent abroad nor provided with any valid Australia work visa. When she questioned the delay and later demanded a refund, Vikrant Sharma allegedly refused to return the money and stopped taking her calls.
Feeling cheated and left with no alternative, Aanchal approached the police. Acting on her complaint, the Local Police registered an FIR under relevant sections of cheating and fraud against the accused and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Police officials said that the case is being thoroughly investigated and further action will be taken based on the findings. They also urged citizens to verify the credentials of immigration agents before making any financial transactions, as incidents of overseas job fraud have been rising steadily.
