Visa Fraud In Haryana: ₹9 Lakh Australia Job Scam, FIR Registered Against Couple and Associate

A case of an alleged overseas job scam has been reported from Palwal, Haryana, where a resident was allegedly cheated of ₹9 lakh on the false promise of being sent to Australia on work visa. Acting on the victim’s complaint, the police have registered an FIR for cheating and forgery against three accused, including a husband-wife duo. Immigration Frauds

Promise of Australia Job Turned Fraud

According to the complainant Gajendra Singh, a resident of Adarsh Colony, the accused Vivek Kumar, his wife Ritu Kumari, and Onkar Chaudhary introduced themselves as overseas placement immigration agents. They allegedly assured him of a work visa in Australia and fixed the total cost at ₹23 lakh.

Gajendra Singh stated that his first meeting with the accused took place in December 2023 at a dhaba in Palwal, where the deal was discussed. Soon after, ₹2 lakh was allegedly taken from him at the Palwal court complex as an advance payment.

Fake Visa Copy Allegedly Handed Over

The complaint further alleged that on May 28, 2024, the accused called the victim to Kankerkhera, where they took an additional ₹7 lakh in cash and handed over a copy of an Australia visa approval, claiming it to be genuine. However, when the complainant later verified the visa online, it was found to be fake.

After this, the accused allegedly switched off their mobile phones and became unreachable, prompting the victim to approach the police authorities.

FIR After Verification Report

Following a preliminary inquiry and receipt of a verification report from the complaint branch, the city police station has registered a case under relevant sections of cheating and forgery. The investigation has been entrusted to ASI Hansraj, posted as Chowki In-charge at Bhavan Kund Police station.

Police Search On, Public Warned

Police officials said that raids are being conducted to trace the accused and recover the cheated amount. Authorities have once again urged job seekers to verify the credentials of overseas agents, avoid cash transactions, and rely only on authorized and licensed immigration consultants.

This case adds to the growing number of Australia job scam cases in Haryana, highlighting the continued risk posed by fraudulent agents exploiting youths and job seekers with promises of overseas employment.
