Fake Work Visa, Australia.
In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:- Seven men and two women were detained on suspicion of being part of a syndicate offering fake work visa of Australia.
All people aged between 20 to 31, were believed to be working at the syndicate’s call centre which had been operating since Mar’2020.
Mr Kamarudin Md Din, The director of federal commercial crime investigation department, said the syndicate used social media platform to advertise fake job offers in Australia.
All Victims were charged approximately $420 AUD (RM1,400) for processing visa applications and the syndicate would send them a screenshot showing the application document as well as a copy of the fake work visa documents using the Department of Home Affairs (Australia) letterhead.
He said 658 applications using the syndicate’s email address are still pending and the most of applicants are from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Pakistan.
Mr Kamarudin Md Din said complaint had been lodged by 1,023 people with the Australian high commission, while police received 28 complaint about losses amounting to RM155,472. He said this syndicate had changed its company name, Facebook account and website address many times, running other companies names like as Top Speed Agency Visa and Eco Travel Malaysia, among others, but the design of their social media accounts, emails accounts, websites remains in the same format.
The director of federal commercial crime investigation department, Mr Kamarudin advised all people, who have fallen victim to these companies to lodge a complaint so that further investigations can be carried out.
The director of federal commercial crime investigation department, Mr Kamarudin added, the Public can check on suspicious job offers advertisement by calling the CCID scam response centre at 03-2610 1559 or 03-2610 1599. He also requested the public to do verify these fake informations with the concerned department before applying for it.
