Canada Visa Fraud In Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Police has arrested a woman accused of a ₹25 lakh Canada visa scam. The accused was nabbed from Kharar near Chandigarh in connection with a fake visa agent and overseas job scam case registered in Shimla. Immigration Frauds

The case was registered at Baluganj Police Station in Shimla in 2025 after a complaint alleged that the accused cheated a family on the pretext of arranging a Canada visa and immigration processing.

₹25 Lakh Canada Work Visa Fraud

According to the registered police case, the complainant alleged that his sister Bhawna was promised a Canadian visa. The accused reportedly posed as a visa consultant and assured the family of guaranteed visa approval.

Under the pretext of Canadian Visa processing, documentation, Etc. , nearly ₹25 lakh was collected. However, no visa or immigration documents were provided, and the accused allegedly stopped responding after receiving the money.

This case is now being investigated as a serious Canada visa fraud and immigration consultant cheating case.

Accused Changed SIM Cards, Used WhatsApp Calls

Police sources revealed that after the police case was registered, multiple raids were conducted in various places in Punjab and Haryana. However, the accused remained absconding. She allegedly kept changing SIM cards and used WhatsApp calls only to avoid being tracked in the Canada immigration scam investigation.

On February 22, a special investigation team was formed. Acting on technical surveillance inputs, police conducted a raid in Shivalik City, Kharar, and arrested the accused, identified as Manju Kumari.

SSP Shimla Confirms Arrest

Gaurav Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation is ongoing.

He said police are probing whether a larger fake visa agent network or immigration fraud racket is involved in the Canada visa scam case.

Rising Canada Visa Scams in North India

The incident highlights the growing number of Canada visa fraud cases, overseas job scams, and immigration agent cheating cases across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana.

Authorities have urged the public to:

  • Verify registered immigration consultants
  • Avoid cash transactions without legal receipts
  • Cross-check visa status directly through official channels
  • Beware of “guaranteed visa” promises

Police officials have warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in fake visa scams and overseas employment fraud.

The investigation into the ₹25 lakh immigration fraud case is ongoing, and more arrests are likely.
