Beware ! Mexico To USA Reach Visa :- The accused used to target residents of Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and Uttarakhand, who desire to go to the United States of America or the Europe and later extort their family members after holding them captive. Immigration Frauds
In this operation, Mohali police busted the fake visa travel agent gang and rescued around 33 immigration fraud victims who were duped, kidnapped and held captive in Indonesia by a gang involved in human trafficking.
The SSP, Mohali Mr Sandeep Garg said, The gang used to tell the victims that they would take them to USA via Mexico and charge them only after they reaches USA. They used to take the clients to Nepal or Indonesia, torture them and force them to call their family to say they have reached Mexico and pay the decided amount to their mates, Once their relative make the payment to the gang members based in India, anywhere between ₹30 to 40 lakh, they used to either leave the victims in Indonesia or make them fly back to India. One of the victims Navjot Singh from Kaithal said, I was kept captive in a house in Indonesia for 16 days and There were around 10 more people like me. This gang tortured me and forced me to call my family and ask them to pay the decided amount to their gang partner. My father is a farmer and he paid ₹40 lakh to the agent.
The matter came to light after one of the victims managed to contact his family in Mohali. Then his family member Ashutosh Rana from Balongi approached the SSP, Mohali and shared with him the matter of his relative and other victims in Indonesia.
SSP Mohali, immediately made the “SIT” and gave the directions. The team came into action and made the first arrest, the wife of the key accused. Then accused were forced to release the victims, who reached Chennai last week.
The arrested gang is identified as Gurjit Singh, Baldish Kaur residents of Jalandhar, Som Raj , Sahil, Veena residents of Hoshiarpur. Their other gang mates, who are yet to be arrested includes Sunny Kumar, who is in Indonesia(He is husband of Veena), Jasvir Singh alias Sanjay, who is residing in Singapore, besides Abhishek, Sonia, Malkeet Singh, Bhupinder,Tony, Sandeep and Suman. The accused gang didn’t even have any licensed visa immigration office in Mohali but used to contact the victims over phone.
The Police investigation team has recovered ₹2.13 crore, 64 tola gold, Four cars, Seven mobile phones used in this crime.
