Man Convicted Of Running Immigration Scam

Immigration Scam, The federal jury convicted an Arizona man of running a fraudulent immigration scheme obtaining more than $1 million USD from his clients by promising them to get U.S. citizenship through adoption, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to the court document and evidence presented at court trial, in 2015 , 2016, Douglas Lee Thayer, 68 Years of age from Mohave Valley, Arizona, operated Las Vegas based U.S. Adult Adoption Services Inc., which used to promise their clients U.S. citizenship through adoption by U.S. citizens in exchange for money.

Thayer used to charge each client an upfront payment between $7,000 and $20,000 for USAAS’s services. In total, Thayer charged them more than $1 million as his fee , who were mostly Chinese, Indian and Spanish speaking immigrants.

Thayer found guilty of two cases of fraud. U.S. District judge presided and scheduled a sentencing hearing for July 26. For each fraud, Thayer faces a penalty of 20 years of prison with a term of supervised release, and a fine.
