Visa Fraud By Immigration Firm:- A Chandigarh based immigration firm, AS Immigration Consultant, was booked for cheating around 15 people for Rs 2.29 crore, on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Firm also took their passports, and original documents, including education degrees to process their case. The accused was identified as Arvinder Singh. Investigation police officer said besides Arvinder Singh, there are around seven other staff members are also under the scanner.
Chandigarh Police said Arvinder and his team mates have been absconding after shutting their office in Sector 34 since May 2. All the victims are from Punjab. Immigration Frauds
Police said that most of the victims came in contact with Arvinder through advertisements posted on their Facebook page and local newspapers.
The FIR against Singh is registered on the statement of Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Moga, Punjab.
In the complaint, Bhupinder Singh said that, “I want to send my daughter, Lovepreet Kaur, to Canada for her higher studies. I came to know about the AS Immigration Consultant at Sector 34, Chandigarh via Facebook and spoke to Arvinder on November 4, 2021. He told me to see him at his Sector 34, Chandigarh office.
As per given time, I and my daughter met him and he assured us about my daughter’s admission in a Canada based institute and student visa. He charged us in different instalments. He also showed us the visa issued in the name of my daughter and I paid a total of Rs 20 lakh to Arvinder.
On May 1, this year, he told us to collect my daughter’s visa stamped passport from his office in Sector 34.
Very Next day, We went to his office and found the office is locked. Arvinder’s phone was also switched off. We found around 15 other people there, who claimed that Arvinder called them too for the collection of their passport, Finally They realised that they were cheated by Arvinder and they put a police complaint to seek the justice.
