Fake Degree Scam, Another Punjab Youth Deported From UK Over Fake Degree, ₹19 Lakh Student Visa Scam Exposed

Fake Degree Scam, Sukhpreet Singh, a 23-year-old resident of Dallewal village in Faridkot district, Punjab, has been deported from the United Kingdom after immigration authorities found forged educational documents used to obtain a UK student visa.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Sukhpreet Singh was declared an inadmissible passenger by UK immigration authorities during verification checks. Authorities allegedly found that he was carrying a fake BBA Bachelor Degree (Bachelor of Business Administration), shown as belonging to the 2022–2025 batch and issued by Punjabi University, Patiala.

Fake Degree Exposed During Immigration Check

Immigration Officials at The UK airport flagged discrepancies in the academic records submitted with Sukhpreet’s UK student visa application, following which the documents were examined in detail. The investigation revealed that the BBA degree certificate from Punjabi University was forged, leading to immediate deportation to India.

Upon his return, Sukhpreet reportedly told the investigation team that his travel agent had charged him ₹19 lakh to prepare the fake degree documents and arrange him genuine study visa.

Police Register Case Against Youth and Agent

The case has now been transferred to the Faridkot police, who have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Section 318(4) – Cheating
  • Section 336(3) – Forging documents
  • Section 340(2) – Fraudulent use of a genuine document

These sections carry serious legal consequences, reflecting the gravity of immigration fraud and document forgery.

Travel Agent Under Scanner

Faridkot Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pragya Jain confirmed that the matter is under investigation.

The police are investigating the case and appropriate action will be taken against the accused as per law. the SSP said.

Officials are now working to identify the agent involved and determine whether the case is part of a larger student visa scam network operating in Punjab.

Rising Concern Over Overseas Education Fraud

This incident adds to a growing list of cases involving fake degrees, forged IELTS scores, and fraudulent student visas, particularly among youths aspiring to study abroad. Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly warned students and parents to verify the credentials of immigration consultants and avoid shortcuts that could lead to deportation, criminal charges, and lifelong travel bans.
