New Changes May Happen In Schengen Visa Process To Avoid Visa Frauds.

The new changes will replace the current visa sticker with a digital visa to avoid the visa frauds.

The (EUC) European Union Council has agreed for negotiations on the proposal to replace the current visa process with digitalize the Schengen visa process. Immigration Frauds

The expected changes seek to make the Schengen visa application procedure more smooth and enhance the security of the Schengen Area, according to SchengenVisaInfo.com.

Maria Malmer Stenergard, The Swedish Minister for Migration, welcomed the decision, stating that a digital visa procedure would make it simple and easier for all aspirants to apply for the document. The motive for these amendments are to reduce the number of visits to consulates for applicants and make the process simple and smoother for national administrations. Moreover, the new system of digital visa will eliminate the risk of falsification and theft of the visa sticker (Which had happened earlier).

If the proposed digitalize system is approved, then EU will create a visa application portal (like Canada, Australia etc.), through which all Schengen visa applications will be submitted. On the portal where Schengen visa applicants can upload their supporting documents, pay fees, and receive notification of the status of their application, said the report.

The personal appearance only be required for first-time applicants, applying with new travel document, persons whose biometric data are no longer valid,” the Council emphasised.
