Yamunanagar. A shocking case of Italy visa scam has come to light where a man was duped of Rs 7.5 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Italy. The accused allegedly sent him to Russia instead, where he was held hostage along with other Indians. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and started investigation.
The victim, Satish Kumar, a resident of Manimajra, Chandigarh, told police that he wanted to go abroad for work. For this, he contacted a firm named AIM Study Abroad in Yamunanagar.
Italy job promise, Rs 12 lakh deal
The accused Sunil Kumar and his associate assured him of a job and work visa in Italy.
- Total deal: Rs 12 lakh
- Amount paid: Rs 7.5 lakh in installments
- Documents also handed over
The victim trusted the accused and proceeded with the process.
Sent to Russia instead of Italy
In this fraud case, the accused did not send him to Italy.
Instead:
- He was given a Russia e-visa
- Sent to Russia instead of Italy
On reaching Russia, the situation took a serious turn.
Held hostage with 20 Indians
The victim alleged that:
- He was kept in a house with around 20 other Indians
- All were held against their will
- Their money was taken away
This exposed a larger network behind the scam.
Forced through donkey route
Later, the accused tried to send him to Italy through an illegal “donkey route”.
From there:
- More money was demanded from the family
- Pressure was created for additional payments
Returned to India after struggle
The victim’s family somehow arranged a ticket and brought him back to India on January 11.
After returning:
- He demanded his money back
- The accused started threatening him
FIR registered, investigation underway
Following the complaint, police have registered a case against:
- Sunil Kumar
- His associate
Police officials stated that the matter is under investigation and strict action will be taken.
