In an overseas job fraud case, a Camp Colony resident was allegedly cheated of ₹2 lakh by a man who promised to secure him a job abroad. The Gandhi Nagar Police Station has registered a police case against the accused and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.

According to the complaint filed with the police authorities, Manish Kumar, a resident of the Camp area in Yamunanagar, was allegedly duped by Sagar Kumar, who claimed to be an immigration consultant arranging foreign jobs in certified international companies. The accused reportedly assured Manish that he would secure him an overseas employment opportunity, convincing him with promises of a better future and stable income abroad.

₹2 Lakh Paid in Installments for Foreign Job Promise

As per the complainant, the incident dates back to 2024 when Manish was actively looking for opportunities to work abroad. During this period, he came in contact with Sagar. Gaining his trust, the accused allegedly collected ₹2 lakh from Manish in multiple installments on August 6, 2024, under the pretext of processing visa documentation and arranging employment in a certified company.

The complainant stated that Sagar assured him that the visa would be processed quickly and asked him to prepare for travel. After some time, the accused handed over a visa document and instructed Manish to make travel arrangements.

Fake Visa Exposed During Verification

However, suspicion arose when Manish decided to verify the visa. Upon verification, the document was found to be fake. Shocked by the revelation, he immediately contacted the accused seeking clarification. The complaint alleges that Sagar failed to provide satisfactory answers and later outright refused to return the money when asked for a refund.

Realizing he had been a victim of a fake visa scam and overseas employment fraud, Manish approached the local police and lodged a formal complaint.

Police Action and Investigation Underway

Acting on the complaint, the Gandhi Nagar Police Station registered a FIR under relevant sections of cheating and fraud. Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to trace the accused and examine whether more victims are linked to the case.

Authorities have once again urged job seekers to verify the credentials of immigration agents and overseas recruitment consultants before making any payments. Victims of job visa fraud are advised to immediately report such incidents to the local police to prevent further scams.

Rising Cases of Immigration and Visa Scams

This case adds to the growing number of immigration fraud cases in Haryana and across India, where unsuspecting youth are being targeted with false promises of overseas jobs, work visas, and high paying employment opportunities abroad.

Experts advise individuals to:

  • Verify the authenticity of visa documents through official embassy or consulate channels.
  • Check if the immigration consultant is registered and licensed.
  • Avoid making large cash payments without official receipts and legal agreements.
  • Cross-check job offers directly with the foreign employer.

As overseas job scams continue to surface, law enforcement agencies are tightening action against fake immigration agents and visa fraud networks operating in the region.
