Overseas Job Fraud In UP: Siddharthnagar (Uttar Pradesh) A resident of Siddharthnagar district has allegedly been cheated of ₹1.40 lakh on the pretext of being sent abroad for employment. According to police officials, the victim, Ataullah, a resident of Mohammadpur Trilokpur village in Siddharthnagar, approached the court after failing to recover his money. The court subsequently directed the police to lodge a case against the accused under relevant sections related to cheating and criminal breach of trust.
Victim Allegedly Lured with Promise of Foreign Job
As per the complaint submitted before the court, Ataullah and another villager, Sahabuddin, were aspiring to work abroad in search of better employment opportunities. During this time, they learned that Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Dudhara, was allegedly involved in sending people overseas for jobs.
On August 11, 2024, the accused reportedly visited their village and assured them that he would arrange overseas employment. Trusting his claims, the victims transferred a total of ₹1,40,000 in installments to the bank account provided by the accused on different dates.
After this, Tariq handed them a Dubai visa. However, when the visa was verified, it was found to be fake. On December 15, 2025, when they demanded the return of their money, he allegedly abused them and issued threats to their life and safety.
FIR Registered on Court Orders
Station Officer (SO) Dudhara, Arvind Kumar Sharma, confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the accused following the court’s directive. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the investigation.
Rising Cases of Visa and Overseas Employment Scams
This incident adds to the growing number of overseas job scams and visa fraud cases reported across Uttar Pradesh and other parts of India. Fraudsters often exploit the desperation of unemployed youth by promising work visas, foreign jobs, or quick migration opportunities in exchange for hefty amounts.
Authorities have advised job seekers to verify the credentials of visa agents, check registration details, and avoid making large payments without proper documentation or government authorization.
