Panchkula Police have arrested another accused in an immigration fraud case involving fake work visas, taking the investigation a step forward. The latest arrest is of a Chandigarh government employee, who is among four people accused of cheating a family of ₹15 lakh by falsely promising to send the complainant’s son to New Zealand for employment.

According to police officials, the accused allegedly assured the complainant that they could arrange a valid work visa and job placement in New Zealand. Trusting these claims, the victim reportedly paid ₹15 lakh in stages. However, neither a genuine visa nor confirmed employment materialised, raising suspicion and eventually leading the complainant to approach the police.

During the investigation, it emerged that forged or misleading documents were used to convince the family that the immigration process was underway. Police say the accused kept delaying the departure on various pretexts before communication reportedly stopped altogether.

With the arrest of the Chandigarh government employee, the total number of accused in the case has reached four. Police officials stated that custodial questioning is underway to determine each accused person’s role in the alleged fraud and to trace the flow of the cheated money.

The case remains under investigation, and efforts are being made to recover the ₹15 lakh allegedly taken from the complainant. Authorities have also indicated that further arrests are possible as more details emerge.

Police have once again cautioned the public to verify the credentials of immigration agents and avoid making large payments without proper documentation and official verification, as cases of visa-related fraud continue to surface in the region.
