Mohali, Police in Phase-11, Mohali, have busted a gang allegedly involved in cheating people by falsely promising overseas jobs and settlement. Two accused have been arrested, while four others are currently on the run.
According to DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal, the accused were operating an illegal recruitment agency under the name New Path Immigration. The firm was functioning without a valid license and luring aspirants with assurances of well paid foreign jobs and permanent settlement abroad.
Following a complaint, a police team led by Phase-11 SHO Amandeep Singh conducted a raid and arrested Nitin, a resident of Kambwala, and Mohit from Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. Both accused have been taken on police remand for further investigation.
Police revealed that the arrested individuals used forged documents to deceive victims, collecting large sums of money in the name of fake offer letters and visa processing. The gang allegedly targeted unsuspecting youths and families, siphoning off their hard-earned savings over a long period.
The remaining accused identified as Prem Sagar, Jyoti, Ravi, and Amandeep Kaur are absconding. Police teams are conducting raids at multiple locations to trace and arrest them.
A case has been registered at Phase-11 police station under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 24 of the Immigration Act. DSP Bal stated that the investigation into the entire network has been intensified and assured that all culprits will be brought to justice soon.
