A Mohali-based immigration consultancy has been booked for allegedly defrauding a Haryana resident of ₹2.60 lakh after promising him a guaranteed foreign visa, police said on Monday.

The complainant, Anil Sachdeva, a resident of Bahadurgarh (Haryana), told police that he approached Future Square Visa Consultants, operating from CP-67 Mall in Mohali, after being assured of a smooth, assured visa process. According to the FIR, the firm collected the amount as a “complete visa fee” and claimed that the approval would be delivered within a fixed timeline.

Accused Identified; Two Still Unnamed

Police have named Himanshu, said to be the owner of the consultancy, as the primary accused. Another accused, Mamta, originally from Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh) and currently residing in Shivjot Colony, Kharar, has also been booked. Two other individuals connected to the firm remain unidentified.

According to investigators, the consultancy allegedly lured clients by offering guaranteed visas — a claim that violates immigration regulations and collected large sums without initiating any legitimate documentation or processing.

Amount Taken, Visa Not Delivered

Sachdeva alleged that after paying the full amount, the firm began delaying the process, offering repeated excuses and failing to provide any official visa documentation. Despite multiple follow-ups, no visa was issued, and the firm allegedly refused to refund the money.

When the complainant realized that the delays were intentional, he approached the Mohali police, leading to the registration of a formal case.

FIR Registered Under BNS and Immigration Act

Police have registered the case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including Sections 115(2), 126(2), 318(4), and 316(2) along with Section 24 of the Immigration Act, which deals specifically with fraudulent immigration practices.

Officials stated that further investigation is underway and more victims may surface as the inquiry expands into the firm’s operations.

Growing Pattern of Visa Scams in Mohali

Authorities have noted a rise in similar complaints from the Mohali region, where unlicensed agents and consultancy owners are allegedly exploiting the increasing demand for overseas work opportunities. Police have urged citizens to verify the legal status, registration, and credibility of immigration providers before making any payments.

The case continues to be investigated by the Mohali police’s economic offense wing.
